A weekend in Bhatkal and Netrani
September 2007 BMC (Bangalore Mountaineering Club) organised a Ocean Adventure trip:
Bhatkal : The Light House town
Bhatkal is the Town which covers many ancient monuments like Basti, Sultan Palli, Chinnnada Palli, Chandranath Basadi and a beautiful sight of
Kadavinakatta dam built across the Venkatapur River. Since it is an coastal town, you can also enjoy the sea-sight along with the Light House.
The first day we reached Bhatkal we swam across the creek to get to a lonely white sand beach. It was in all sense a private beach:
If you thought that swimming across the creek was adventurous, the dinner wait and what followed was more so. People just lazed around someone playing guitar, some one showing off his camera skills and others just radom chatting and sea gazing.
And just when after setting our tents we went back to sleep after a day of hectic activity, the rain gods played havoc and in the middle of the night all of us found ourselves sleeping in water!
The next day it rained almost all through and we had another private beach on the other side to enjoy beach volleyball.
We left for Murdeshwar, and from there took a boat to Netrani, looked like a marooned island in the middle of nowhere (but sea).
People went snorkeling and the sunset was amazing.
